By the age of six, Henry had lost both of his parents. A temporary home with his grandmother provided little relief—no heat, no air conditioning, and barely enough to survive. Struggling with the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome, his educational delays made him feel even more alone. What he needs most is a stable, loving place where he can just be a kid.
DOGTAGS4JESUS is partnering with Love For A Child to help send Henry and others in similar circumstances to a week of lifechanging camp where he will be hosted and helped by over 100 trained and trauma informed volunteers who are there to make his experience fun, positive, and most importantly Christ-centered. When you give to help Henry go to camp, you will receive a custom printed dogtag with a bible verse that Henry and the volunteers who serve him will also receive, so you will be linked together to pray for him and he can remember God’s promises knowing there are people like you supporting his journey.
Love For A Child is a faith focused, 501c3, non-profit organization that serves children, youth, and families currently active within Michigan’s foster care system. Founded in 2012, the program focuses on impacting children of trauma, who have experienced different forms of abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Love for a Child has created and facilitates overnight camps, mentorship opportunities for children and youth, as well as, tailored resources for foster families to meet the specific needs within their care.
